The Anchor Lab originated in 2021 as part of Glasgow’s ‘Creative Communities: Artists in Residence’ programme, which was a citywide project for Glasgow, employing an artist in residence for every community. We were the selected artists in residence for Glasgow’s Ward 12, which encompasses the Anniesland, Broomhill, Jordanhill, Partick West, Thornwood and Victoria Park neighbourhoods. Since January 2023 our geographical reach has become broader, encompasssing the whole of the North West of the city under Glasgsiw Life’s new ‘Artists in Communities‘ programme.
Glasgow Life Artists in Communities is a programme which aims to transform lives through engagement and participation in creative and cultural activity, in local communities across the city.
The programme has commissioned 15 artists and arts organisations to deliver creative opportunities in different areas of Glasgow from November 2022. The diverse range of planned projects includes visual art, music, film making, storytelling, community events, poetry and more besides; activity will be directed by local needs and priorities.
